About Me

I'm Anjali Tarun, a graduate student and a full-time faculty at the National Institute of Physics, University of the Philippines. I work under the supervision of Dr. Rene Batac and Dr. Johnrob Bantang of the Complexity Science (Dynamics and Organization) Group of the Instrumentation Physics laboratory.

I also work part-time as a research assistant in a university-based project about the complexity of Philippine public school system. It is part of the Emerging Interdisciplinary Research (EIDR) program of the university, and aims to model the resilience of public school performance to disaster occurrences.

I am naturally loquacious about the things I'm passionate about. I like to read journal articles, news online (and novels in my spare time). I love to travel, explore the world, and meet new people. I like to balance work and play. Fortunately, I enjoy being a researcher, and often times, I regard it as a hobby instead of a career.

Although I mainly study complexity science, I also have a big interest in machine learning. I have taken three courses on signals and image analysis, and this is where I mainly publish my reports for future reference, in case there is a need to read them again and refresh my memory.

This is an online diary of fresh and newly-learned ideas detailing my never-ending attempts to deconstruct and understand signals and images (hence the title of this blog).  It contains snippets of my thoughts that I'd like to look back to from time to time.
